Braving the snow for a shopping trip through Seoul's Edae neighborhood, home of Ewha Womans University. I'm not sure if using umbrellas during a snowfall is unique to Korea (maybe my international readers can help me here), but I've never witnessed it in other countries. Makes sense, though!
A romantic, and icy cold, walk along the Cheonggye Stream that runs through downtown Seoul.
Interesting advertising strategy outside an Edae shop, but I didn't notice any takers during the five or ten minutes I spent observing the peculiar scene.
No takers for the "Fresh Fruit Candy", either, but you have to applaud the tenacity of the vendor.

Hi Abby,
Thanks for your posts and pictures. It makes me wish we'd had a bit more time to explore Seoul and it's environs when we were there last October. It also would have been nice to meet and spend more time with the people behind the "voices" I've grown so fond of over at KBS. Your Blog is a great way, at least, for us to connect faces with those voices!
Take care and enjoy the ever changing Seoul winter!
Jeff
Yes, in Vancouver Canada some people, including me, use umbrellas when it is snowing because it is usually wet and heavy. Ones becomes wet and cold if the snow collects or starts melting into outer clothing.
I hear your blog on Overnight CBC radio (which I turn on when I wake in the middle of the night) and came by to check it out.
I'm sure glad the only snow we get in Southern California, the only snow we get is on TV late at night!! I dread shoveling, and drive through this stuff. Hang in there Abby! Sprint will be soon!!
How did I write that??? I promise I am sober Abby. Anyway, please stay warm, and enjoy the experience!
